It&#8217;s the only way a vet can safely work below the gum line, using ultrasonic equipment to clear out the bacteria that daily brushing can&#8217;t reach. &#8220;Anesthesia-free&#8221; cleanings might make the teeth look cleaner, but they only remove surface staining \u2014 they don&#8217;t touch the periodontal disease that&#8217;s actually doing the damage.<\/p>\n<p>Dental X-rays matter too. More than half of each tooth sits beneath the gum line, invisible to the naked eye. Full-mouth radiographs catch around 40% more problems than a visual exam alone \u2014 things like root resorption, hidden decay, and bone loss.<\/p>\n<p>One to two minutes of brushing a day isn&#8217;t much to ask.
